Transneft files 129 mln rbl suit against Rosneft

MOSCOW, Jan 23 (PRIME) -- Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transneft has filed a 129 million ruble suit against oil major Rosneft to the Moscow Arbitration Court, as seen by PRIME on Monday in the materials of the register of arbitration cases.

The court is yet to start proceedings on the suit, and the suit’s matter was not disclosed.

In December 2022, Transneft filed a 395 million ruble suit against Rosneft and a 423 million ruble suit against the oil major’s subsidiary Bashneft. Igor Dyomin, advisor to the president of Transneft, said the suits were connected to the failures of the companies to meet liabilities on pumping of oil products in 2020 and 2021.

Dyomin also said that Transneft managed to settle similar disputes with Gazprom Neft and Lukoil, but that there were companies who thought it would be right to go to court.

The court is also hearing a 2 billion ruble Transneft’s suit against Rosneft behind closed doors. Dyomin told PRIME earlier that the oil pipeline monopoly filed the suit over the company’s failures to pay for transportation and storage of oil.

In early December 2022, the court turned down an 11.9 billion ruble suit of Rosneft against Transneft over losses that the oil major had suffered because of oil contamination in the Druzhba export pipeline in 2019, but Rosneft appealed against the decision.
